The ODNR Wildflower Bloom Report is a news report that comes out every week starting in early March every year. It is published by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of State Nature Preserves and highlights what is in bloom around the state each week. It is a really good source to find out where to go see the amazing Spring Wildflower Parade.
Many of the flowers are ephemeral, which means they don’t last long. So you must be quick to get out there and see them. Most of them are woodland species, and some of them are very rare. I think they are among the most delicate and beautiful of all the wildflowers in Ohio.
I must remind you that all of these species are protected and some are even punishable by law with stiff penalties. Please respect our treasures and take nothing but pictures. Even picking them can kill them and most do not transplant well anyway and rely on the soil and conditions that they grow in.
