This is the start of a Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks Winter Hike Challenge. To complete the challenge, there are 6 Metro Parks assigned each month for three months for a total of 18. If you complete 7, you earn an embroidered patch, and if you do all 18, you earn a hiking stick or medallion if you already have a stick. You can do any trail at any time during the month for which the park is required.
I had never been to this park, so it was a good opportunity to check it out. Homestead Metro Park is a small 44 acre park in Hilliard with a few miles of trails, prairies, picnic areas, play areas, shelters, Nature Center, an old railroad depot, pond, and a covered bridge.
