20210911 – Winterrowd Wetlands

Winterrowd Wetlands is a 60 acre preserve of the Darke County Parks system. It features a 20 acre prairie and a 35 acre wetland. The trail is really short at a quarter mile and ends at a blind on the edge of the wetland. Unfortunately the cattails were obstructing the view into the wetland and access into the wetland is prohibited, so we didn’t see much there. There is also a historic site here where an encampment was setup during the Northwest Indian War in 1791. It was this war that eventually lead to the Greenville Treaty.

I met up on this Saturday for a tour of 6 Darke County Parks with my friend Brett from Ohio Hiking Trails and Historical Sites. This was our fourth hike of the day.
