Cades Cove Campground was our basecamp during the four days we were in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is located on the west side of the park. There are several trails near the campground. There is a camp store open from 9-5 which has some food, wood, ice, and also rents bikes. There are no shower facilities or electric available, even though the restrooms have running water and flushable toilets. Wash sinks are also available at the restrooms for washing dishes, as you don’t want to do this at the campsite, due to attracting bears, which frequent this campground. Also make sure to not leave any food or trash out, even if you think your cooler is “bear proof”.

Just south of Knoxville, TN, I caught a glimpse of the Smoky Mountains.

There’s plenty of space between sites.
There is a picnic table, firepit, and a tent pad.
