On my way back from the Caesar Creek Gorge State Nature Preserve, I stopped at the area below the dam. There are trails down there I wanted to catch.

This bridge crosses the creek below the dam. The parking area is on the opposite side. This area is a popular fishing area.
The dam.
Just across the bridge, I turned right along the river. This part of the trail is crushed limestone.
Although there was no sign here, I believe this is the Buckeye Trail. However the Gorge Loop Trail turns left here.
Gorge Loop Trail.
This creek was nearly dry, but you can tell some serious water has flowed through here.
The trail begins to climb and climbs for about a quarter mile.
Looking back at the climb coming up.
There is a split in the trail at the top. Gorge Loop Trail goes left, and the Fossil Trail goes right. I think this leads back to the spillway area I saw earlier in the day.
Now heading back toward the dam along the top of the gorge.
Witches Butter fungus.
Right before the trail turns left at a paved section there is a small pond.
Right goes toward the Flat Fork Picnic Area, the Gorge Loop Trail turns left here.
The trail starts descending back toward the gorge.
Only about a mile and a half loop, you arrive back at the bridge from the north side.
That fisherman’s pier is off the parking lot south of the bridge.
