I had been to this park before, and wanted to return to complete the trails I didn’t cover the first time. This time I took one of my buddies who wanted to go on a short hike with me. As such, this hike isn’t as picture intense as some previous ones.
We started off on the Whitetail Loop which heads south from the parking area into the woods, turns left at an intersecting service road which goes to the university which runs this reserve, then turns left again at a rather large solar array run by the university and AEP.
After completing the Norpell Woods Loop, we turned right on the Ovenbird Trail for a short distance, then another right on the Taylor Ochs Trail. We completed the entire Taylor Ochs Trail, took the Ovenbird Trail back south to the Flying Squirrel Trail. The Flying Squirrel Trail ends at the Woodcock Trail where we went right. The Woodcock Trail ends at another section of the Whitetail Loop Trail, where we went right until we reached the Quarry Trail. Quarry Trail to the Waxwing Trail where we took a right. Waxwing Trail ends back at the Whitetail Loop Trail right about where the parking area is.
