I had no idea the Denison University Biological Reserve was so large. It’s 350 acres. When you drive by it on SR 661, it looks like a small hillside and research center, however when you walk over that hill, the trails drop into a pretty amazing valley. There are 16 different trails with many different habitats throughout. I was only able to cover about half of the trails due to limited daylight, but I will be back to get the rest at a later date.

Trailmap
Entrance at the parking lot
Trails are all well marked with these signs at their head
There are also occasional post signs at intersections
This is a beautiful private property at the Quarry
I think these people have some big parties
Small boardwalk along the Woodcock Trail
Small climb up the Flying Squirrel Trail
Entering a pine grove on the Ovenbird Trail
These pines are impressive
The pine grove is mixed with these impressive black cherry trees
Black Cherry
This trail follows around the border of the northern section of the park
There’s a fair number of Osage Orange trees on the Taylor Ochs Trail
I’m pretty sure this is a flying squirrel, they are smaller then their cousins
Need a bath?
Taylor Ochs Pond
The snow was really pretty here
Most of the creeks have small bridges
Large beech tree on the Cuckoo Trail
The tree is consuming the sign
Pine grove on the left and black cherry grove on the right
