Because this was my last day and I was short on time before I had to head home, I only was able to spend a little bit of time in the Brecksville Reservation. I will have to come back and do more of this large area.
I parked at the Harriet Keeler Memorial Picnic Area parking lot.
From there I visited the Brecksville Nature Center to check out the animals and information they had there.
From the Nature Center, I took a short walk to the Tallgrass Prairie they had there.
Then I hiked back to the parking area and crossed the road to the Harriet Keeler Shelter, which is one of the oldest shelters in the park.
Behind the shelter is a connector trail which leads to the Hemlock Loop Trail along the Chippewa Creek Gorge.
I went west on the Hemlock Loop Trail and hiked the gorge rim to the Chippewa Creek Gorge Overlook for a great view of the Chippewa Creek Falls there.
From the Overlook, I took a southern fork of the Hemlock Loop Trail at the small shelter back toward the Nature Center. After crossing Chippewa Creek Drive, there is a memorial to Harriet Keeler, a prominent citizen and educator of this area who this area is dedicated to.
From the memorial, I hiked the Wildflower Loop Trail down into another small gorge, along a small stream and back up to the Nature Center and back to my car.
