Location: Southeast of Newark, Ohio on the SE corner of Brownsville Road and Flint Ridge Road.

Flint Ridge State Memorial is a 533 acre well preserved preserve which showcases the flint quarries which were spread over a larger 2000 acre area across an 8 mile vein of flint in Licking County, Ohio. The area was sacred to ancient Native Americans as it provided valuable hunting materials, mainly arrow heads, as well as gemstones for jewelry. The flint was often traded among tribes has has been found in locations all across the eastern part of North America. On this preserve, one can still see some quarries and discard piles where they dug up the valuable resource.
