Location: Southern Licking County, Ohio.
Originally a wetland, Buckeye Lake was dammed and constructed as an Erie Canal feeder. It is 3100 acres and is primarily used for boating and fishing today. There aren’t alot of places to explore otherwise as the lake is surrounded by private property. However there are a few public areas like Lieb’s Island, Fairfield Beach, North Shore Boat Launch, and even a State Nature Preserve which is a floating peat bog called Cranberry Marsh, which features rare carnivorous plants and a boardwalk which is accessible by permit only.
