Quarry Trails Metro Park is a brand new park on the west side of Columbus, Ohio, and just opened up in early December. Wes and I had to see it. I’m doing a winter hike challenge for the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Park system, but I couldn’t help getting in a new park. This one isn’t part of the challenge series, but why not? It is part of the same park system.

This was the best map I found.
The south lot was full.
We drove up to the north lot.
North lot was packed as well with people parked along the road, but we found a spot.
There is a trail that leads to the southern part of the park.
From the top of the sledding hill looking back. That is a lot of cars.
And looking toward the still active part of the quarry.
Coming into the south quarry.
There are some cool cliffs down here.
It’s a beautiful area.
The floating boardwalk.
A panorama.
They still need to landscape.
There is a kayak ramp.
They are building condos in the quarry as well.
Stay away from the cliffs.
New bridge.
View from the bridge.
Cormorant.
Another look at the condos. Great views.
From the south looking north.
This stream is a connector.
Approaching the waterfall.
It reminds me of Hayden Falls to the north. This is called Millikin Falls.
Looking back from the waterfall.
These stairs lead up out of the quarry.
There is an overlook deck.
Looking down to the waterfall.
From the falls we took another trail which crossed over to the floating boardwalk then headed back the way we came. Looking into the active part of the quarry. It’s deep.
