Lake Alma State Park is a small 292 acre park in southern Vinton County just north of Wellston, Ohio. It features a 60 acre lake with only hand powered and electric motors allowed, numerous picnic areas, a beach, boat rentals, about 5 miles of nature trails, a 2 mile multipurpose trail with a connection to the Wellston Bike Path, and a 76 site campground with electric options and nice new showers. The camp store sells ice and wood as well. It’s a quite place and I had an enjoyable weekend here. I will say that cell phone service (Sprint) is remote down here and most internet functions wouldn’t work at all, however I was able to send a few regular text messages.
The campground is situated on the east side of the lake. The road around the lake is one way going clockwise, so you must enter from the northwest end. Some of the campsites are small for RV’s and there are some tight turns, but there were plenty of larger sites toward the middle of the campground which had larger pads and even a few with full hookup options.
