Burton Wetlands State Nature Preserve is a 305 acre park just southwest of Burton, Ohio on Rider Road and is managed by the Geauga Park District. In addition to the wetlands, it features three trails, a large prairie, incredible birds, Tamarack Pines, and a large kettle lake called Lake Kelso.

They’re hard to see but this bench was riddled with Carpenter Bees. They won’t hurt you.

It was formed when a large block of ice broke off the receeding glacier and sunk into the muck.
It’s pretty big.

These are the water plants found here.
And there are Ospreys here.
Skunk Cabbage likes to be in the swampy areas.

Tamarack Pines are a deciduous pine tree with super delicate leaves and very rare here.

This trail has a large prairie, some woods, and some wetlands.
Tulips are not native.

It’s a big prairie.
He’s yelling at her.
The Tree Swallows really didn’t mind me getting close.
That’s a Bluebird.
