Johnson Ridge State Nature Preserve is a 208 acre park in Adams County, Ohio. It’s known for its summer wildflowers and good second growth Hickory and Oak woods. There aren’t a lot of trails, only 1.2 in length. I was in the area and decided to scout it out.

Parking along Marjorie Johnson Road.
Map on the kiosk at the trailhead.
Entering the trail.
The trail was covered with leaves and hard to follow. These markers are on the trail but are difficult to see from a distance.
Hickory dominates the top part of the ridge.
With lots of Oak.
A few pines as well.
The land nearby is being thinned, but not cleared.
You can really see here how the trail is hard to follow with the leaves down. There is a bridge.
It took me while to find the next marker.
I actually had to go this way a few times before I found the next marker.
This sign marks the loop part of the lollipop.
Sometimes they also use these blue ribbons to mark the trail.
Why do people litter?
There are some maples here also.
And Sassafras.
