Lobdell Reserve is a small 210 acre reserve just north of Alexandria, Ohio. It features over 8 miles of trails, cliffs, streams, and wetlands. Most of the trails are open to horseback riding, so watch and yield to them. There is also a disc golf course on the northeast side, known for it’s long drives and open fairways. There is a creek which cuts through the center east to west and there are several creek crossings if the water isn’t too high, but if it is, the park features enough trails on both the north and south sides to enjoy.
This day, I hiked almost 5 miles covering most of the trails. I crossed the creek four times. I began on the East parking lot where the horse trailers also park. When I started, there weren’t any horses, but when I came back, there were a couple trailers there. I didn’t run into them on the trails.
The trails in this park are not named, but there are numbers on posts at the intersections which correspond to numbers on the map at the trailhead. I recommend taking a picture on your phone, and keep track of where you are, because they don’t offer printed versions. There are also some posts with maps on them throughout, however they are so worn out, you can’t read them.
