Spring Valley Nature Preserve is a small 45 acre preserve located just off SR 16 south of SR 161 in Granville, Ohio. It is run by the Granville Recreation Department. It has numerous trails, a gorgeous ravine, and a picnic area with a couple shelters. This is my third visit (previous posts) to this beautiful park. I was just after a short evening hike after work. Even had a scrawny male deer come up and check me out within 20 feet.

Looks like one of the many sedges, but I’m not sure.

What a beautiful Wednesday evening it was.
I’m up on the Roberts Ridge Trail.
When I spotted this deer ahead, I stopped completely and caught a few zoomed in photos.
It’s a small young buck, and he went back to grazing.
And he kept curiously moving toward me.
It’s like he saw me, but wasn’t sure I was real, because I was perfectly still.
Closer…
Here’s a zoomed out pic of how close he was. He started way up to the upper right of the photo and came right towards me. He actually got closer than this even.
I was sorry I had to do it but he was making me nervous, so I shifted position and he turned and trotted away.
They’ve been busy pulling the Mustard Garlic and smaller Bush Honeysuckles, both invasive plants. I actually ran into a group out there bagging these up.
Partridgeberry. Interesting fact about the berry is that it is formed by the merging of two flowers rather than a typical single ovary.
