Today in Blendon Woods I spent some time hiking the Sugarbush Camp Area as well as the Walden Waterfowl Refuge. I began by parking at the Nature Center and hiking down the Sugarbush Trail. When I got to the closed section of the reservable area park road, I turned left and entered the Sugarbush Reservable Day Camp Area, where I entered the woods again on the trail behind the picnic shelter.

From the picnic shelter…
Rue Anemone
Spring Beauty
Violet
Trout Lily’s
Toadshade Trillium
Yellow Trout Lily

Ramps aka wild leeks.
Coming around back to the park road.
I’ve seen this prairie is different stages now.
Maple Flower

After thoroughly checking out all of the Sugarbush Day Camp Area, I completed the Sugarbush loop, then returned to the camp road, where I returned to the Nature Center.

On the way back to the Nature Center, I checked out the Hickory Grove Reservable Picnic Area.

Once back at Nature Center, I took the paved path called the Lake Trail toward Thoreau Pond. On the way back I saw this turkey on the trail. There are a lot of turkey’s in Blendon Woods.
And a albino squirrel.
