20191117 – Slate Run Metro Park

Date: 11/17/2019 – Distance: 3.2 mi – Elapsed Time: 2.0 hr – Ascent: 335 ft – Descent: 302 ft – Difficulty: Easy

Slate Run Metro Park is a 1700 acre park near Canal Winchester, Ohio just outside of southeast Columbus. I stopped at this park after hiking in Chestnut Ridge Metro Park which is also nearby. I was only able to do a few miles due to limited time. The park features a variety of habitats, including hardwood forest, grassland prairie, and wetlands.

I parked at the Living Historical Farm parking lot and entered the Sugar Maple Trail. Then I hiked the Five Oaks Trail to complete a loop. The trails are very well maintained at this park with finely crushed limestone. I wish I had more time, because there are many more miles of trails at this park. I will have to return another time.
